What
do I need to bring with me?
We only provide the furniture
in the room therefore you will need
to bring bedding and all the personal
items you will need each day. We provide
the essential white goods along with
a toaster and kettle in the kitchen
however you will need to bring your
own crockery, utensils etc. How
big are the rooms? The
rooms vary in size dependant on which property you live at. They are all single study
bedrooms and most of our properties
have ensuite facilities which
means you are not sharing a bathroom.
How
much deposit do I pay?
The
amount of the deposit is either
one and a half times the rent if
you have a guarantor or double
the rent and and extra months
financial security bond equal to one months
rent. More detail
can be found on the application
form. > Top
How
many people do I share the kitchen with?
This
depends on which property you live at. If you live
at Varsity there are six rooms
per cluster who all share the
same kitchen.
When
can I move in?
Once we have
received all of your references
and they are acceptable then we
can discuss moving you in. Signature
and witnessing the contract
along with payment of your moving
in monies is also made in cleared
funds before you will receive
your keys.
Can I pay my moving in monies
by personal cheque?
Yes however the
monies must be cleared
in our account before you will be given your keys. Alternatively you can transfer
monies direct to our account however again it must be cleared
in our account. You can purchase a Bank
Draft from your bank which is similar to cleared funds and
this can be given to us on the day you move in. This
is much safer than bringing cash on the day. We
do not accept a personal
cheque on the day you move
in. > Top
How long is
the contract for?
If you will be living at one of
our Halls of Residence
the contracts all expire on the 31 August
each year. It varies slightly
if you live in a house
however this is usually
discussed with the negotiator before
you apply for the house.
Do I have to
have a Television license ? Yes, all tenants much purchase
a license when they move in
and this is checked by the relevant company usually
around December.
Where
are the shops/bus station/ train station?
We recommend
that you purchase a map of Cambridge
as soon as you arrive to help you to
get used to the area. We
are in the office to offer help and advice
on this if you are
having problems.
What
is a guarantor and who can be one for me?
A guarantor
is someone who is in a position to
underwrite the tenancy agreement. It
means that you pay less
deposit when you first
move in. If
you stop paying rent then we would contact
them for payment or if
your behaviour was not
acceptable and it was affecting
others then we would also be able to speak
with them. You can only have guarantor
if they reside/live in
England or Wales. > Top
